The process is a little different depending on which mobile or VoIP service provider you're using. When you purchase a number, from PhoneNumberExpert, we will email you with the information you need and instructions for porting your new number. Porting to a mobile carrier is typically easiest. Porting to a VoIP or landline may require a form from your phone provider but that is not always the case. If you need assistance with the porting process, we are here to help you.

Local numbers provide businesses with a variety of benefits. The most common are:

  • Customers are more likely to answer calls from a local number.

  • Local numbers give your business a local presence and brand awareness.

  • A local number builds trust because it feels close to home.

It takes only a few minutes. Just use our search engine designed to help you find the exact phone number you’ve been looking for. You can search by state, area code, words, letters, or number patterns. Our customers love using our search engine because it gives you all of these options and more. Go ahead and try it out for yourself.

With our simple 3-step process, we make it easy for you to acquire the perfect vanity phone number for your business. Whether it’s a toll-free number or a local number or both, it’s easy and affordable.

We’ve also made searching such a large inventory really simple and fun. Our uniquely designed search tool speeds up the process. To narrow down your search, just specify the area code, state, word, letters, industry, or number sequence. Try using the search tool now.

Once you’ve selected your number, it's yours to keep. Within a few hours, you’ll receive an email with everything you need to know, including the account credentials and transfer instructions. Then, call your carrier to begin the transfer process. Generally, the transfer process is completed within 48-72 hours.

Your new number can easily be ported to a mobile or VoIP phone, including Google Voice, regardless of area code. Landlines, on the other hand, must be associated with an area code for the region where they are used. You can use a Miami area code with your mobile or VoIP carrier in Seattle, but you would need a 206 area code for your landline. If you are interested in acquiring a new number for your landline, you should contact your service provider to determine any requirements for the new number before purchasing it.

Being able to tell consumers to call your toll-free number is a huge selling point for any business. Top benefits are:

  • Your business appears larger and more successful than using only a local number.

  • From the start, you build a global reputation that people automatically respect.

  • National callers know they can reach you for free, and free is always appealing to consumers.

Toll-free numbers are different from local numbers as they are not necessarily tied to specific local areas. With a toll-free number, the dialer does not know the exact location of the business, whereas local numbers bear the area code. Another key difference is that calling toll-free numbers costs nothing callers nothing. The owner of the number pays any charges associated with the call.

There are no recurring charges from PhoneNumberExpert once the number has been purchased; however, your carrier may impose additional usage charges or other fees, so please be certain to check with your individual carrier.

If you can’t find a phone number that you are determined to acquire, you may need to change your search criteria or you may need to change the number.

Vanity phone numbers act as word-of-mouth advertising tools, which makes them extremely valuable. You know this if you have paid for advertising. They are more than just a random set of numbers. Often, businesses showcase them in advertisements because they’re more effective than a slogan or a cool image.
